I agree with you, you always have to address mistakes and problems immediately, I had to learn that too. The construction was also more stressful and time-consuming for me than expected and planned, but it was rarely due to the bad companies.

Building a house is stressful because many things are added to an often not relaxed everyday life. At least once a day on the construction site, coordination, construction site appointments, etc. Mistakes happen. None of us works without errors. If they are fixed, it is okay. The craft trades have a huge shortage of young talent, partly because of the formerly poor pay. Why are there no craftsmen here? It is going back in the direction of craftsmen having a golden future. A master craftsman is equated with a bachelor's degree and finally also the earnings. In a car workshop, hourly rates of around 100 euros have long been paid, and 60 euros for the house is usury, rip-off. @TE I would not have accepted the mistakes with you. Rework, withhold money, expert. Immediately complain verbally on the construction site, if nothing happens, best in writing by the expert.

The stress factor of the builders is naturally significant. This is not easy to solve for everyone. Our construction site is an hour's drive from our current place of residence, so I am not at the site every day. However, I was able to set priorities, reduce my workload, and thus create room for construction supervision.
When stressed craftsmen meet stressed builders, things “blow up” faster than when everyone takes the necessary time. I admit that this option is not available to everyone.

Nevertheless, everyone squeezes site visits in somewhere. If it’s not daily - like with you, then the client somehow makes time free. Only a few build as relaxed as my best buddy. He was once on the site for earthworks, foundation slab, basement masonry. Why should I take care of it? I pay turnkey, I have no idea. And it worked out. The only trade that delivered defects is the same company as ours. The floor. His answer, it doesn’t bother me, I can’t do it better.

Look, it should be EXACTLY like that ... he offers to rebuild and you say:
No, it’s fine, too much effort ...
You meet each other halfway.

But if YOU are the one who notices it was built a few centimeters too low and he says:
Yes, it can’t be better, you should have put it in the contract to the exact centimeter, or simply: No, that’s correct like that.

Then I simply have no understanding ...

If money is no object, the above variant is completely fine. I like it.

However, if money does matter and your buddy paid the price for a decent floor, then it wouldn’t be okay with me.

It would be the same as if I buy a car with ESP, but it’s delivered without ESP. Well, I can’t install ESP either. So, completely fine?!

Well, there are people ... But I think it’s great that they exist.
