Sorry, but there are still good and reliable craftsmen. Our experience (2017-18, Lower Saxony) with craftsmen from the wider region was largely positive. We chose based on personal recommendation and availability. Where we had multiple offers, we decided based on gut feeling. We decided based on price when it was absurdly high or too low. We did not receive multiple offers for all trades or only through contacts. We also noticed that companies have problems finding qualified personnel. There were some minor problems almost everywhere, but for most trades a hint was enough and a solution was found without discussion. We also had two bad eggs where kind words were useless. These were companies that were simply poorly managed. If the boss doesn't care or is overwhelmed, then nobody cares. It happens. On-topic: we solved that with an expert report. I think one should also distinguish whether you are building with a very large general contractor who perhaps employs some subs very cheaply. That also seems to vary regionally. Almost no one builds here with very large or supraregional companies.

All good. No need to apologize for that.

But you see yourself... Largely positive because chosen based on personal recommendation etc.

Still, in your case work was partly poor and an expert had to be called in.

That’s exactly what I mean... The "customers" just accept the crap and even present it as "okay."

As someone already wrote here... The bills when paying are clean and without any flaws. But the countervalue is full of bad compromises?!

Not with me! But apparently with many here in the forum.

I always wonder how these people behave when they buy a car or a computer or whatever and it doesn’t work. Do they then also say: "Well, there are various suppliers involved, different trades, it can happen." ???

No, they rant until the doctor comes and insist on correction (rightly so).

But as soon as something costs 500k, they switch off their brain and pay obediently so that the boss of the construction company isn’t annoyed.

Sure, a large part of this forum consists of lobby work that has the task of normalizing the outrageous prices. But that this lobby now also sugarcoats absolutely poor work is a whole new level.

I’ll quote the universally beloved Lotus:

"Sad"

I don’t rant endlessly at MediaMarkt or at the VW dealer.

I believe that the rabble faction has already shown itself very clearly here.

Mistakes happen – it depends on how you deal with them and how a service is ultimately delivered satisfactorily. Those who "swear" and "insist" do not necessarily have the better strategy. People who only know "applying pressure" as a method to enforce their own interests simply have more stress and lose as soon as they have the shorter lever. Pretty stupid, because craftsmen currently have fairly good leverage in construction. So other strategies are required. And lo and behold: mistakes happen and you manage it together. Then the result is coherent and you often have an even better relationship than before. So why should one still scold or warn? In that regard, the statement made above is quite one-dimensional.

Great opinion. Completely detached from reality. Mistakes happen regardless of the amount of money involved; one knows this from the working world and especially from the construction industry - like with BER. Mistake prevention costs money. This becomes quickly apparent in areas concerning the safety of people. What matters is how one deals with mistakes, their correction, and learning from them. We are humans, not machines. Therefore, you cannot expect a machine when you hire a craftsman. Thanks for the good wishes. Nerves of steel are needed by those who often get into conflicts.
