OK, understood. Good comparison with the hotel mode of the TV (there are sometimes interesting menus there that you can use yourself).

So buy a washing machine with a rotary knob again - great!

Almost every washing machine also has a time delay function. Somehow I am skeptical whether the extra effort is really worth it compared to a washing machine that naively starts at noon when the sun is usually suitable.

Sometimes the energy managers of the photovoltaic manufacturers can do something like that too. Otherwise, a control instance must be put above it that speaks the language of the photovoltaic (usually Modbus or a relay) and the desired devices. You can, for example, look at ioBroker or HomeAssistant, both of which cost nothing. I would say that hardly any modern household appliance can be activated without deeper intervention (literally meant) through switchable power supply.

Iobroker is the affordable option of choice. Since I do not yet own photovoltaic panels but am considering getting some, I have configured the homeconnect adapter for my Siemens dishwasher on iobroker as a test. This allows the dishwasher to be controlled automatically.

However, what must be considered, at least for the bsh group, is that all devices must be manually set to remote control mode. That means the device must be turned on by a person and the remote control button pressed.

Surplus electricity can then be determined in iobroker via the adapters of the inverters or, if none are available, by measuring the power of the photovoltaic system with a shelly 3em.

Costs would be about 100€ for the raspberry, iobroker itself is free. And if needed, about 100€ for the shelly 3em.

So thanks for the info. Of course, I know about time selection on the machines.

I just tested it, no machine goes into an automatic 'on' mode when they receive power. However, they continue running if the program was stopped, except for the Siemens dryer, which pauses.

That doesn't sound very elegant now, but it would work now.

I would rather not install any wifi home connectors now.
