I’m quite relaxed at the moment. He makes a good impression on us and has explained everything he checked in detail. And so far, he has actually found nothing. He is also supervising several construction sites from the same developer and has already said before that there are usually few problems there. But let’s wait and see, we have only reached the electrical part ...

One can only hope that you have a good construction law lawyer who will stop you from doing that.

Best regards

You keep cheerfully posting "defects" in your construction project bit by bit; I would definitely delete that if you did so in the moderated section and named your provider. So far without any discernible substance. The result so far: other users feel compelled to discredit an entire profession.

How about finally revealing *what* you had built at *what* price?

Rhenish regards

Regarding the "metal industry," it should be said: As if there is no cutting corners... I am myself a metalworker with body and soul, both as a hobby and professionally. And God knows how much cutting corners happens there... Whether it’s the ball bearing ball that makes the oversized fit proper at the top (where measurements are usually taken...) or the thicker grease that fills the too-large cavity, etc., etc. I could lecture for HOURS about it!

It’s the SAME everywhere: You get what you pay for. And on top of that, there’s luck and misfortune :D Meaning: It can go either way ;)

Construction, mechanical engineering, vehicle technology, it doesn’t matter. There are no 100% guarantees in life, and if you want to be sure that your own standards are met, you have to make sure yourself that it happens. Whether that is enforced with more money or more control or more money for control is up to each person and must be decided case by case. It will hardly ever work just by good reasoning. More likely luck and common sense ;)

From my (very limited) construction experience and current assessment, I also fear that I have higher demands than are often represented in the construction trade. But that’s why we also look for a good architect and an independent expert. And to both I will extensively explain what my expectations are. They will then tell me what is justified and what is not. And ensuring that the justified remainder is met is then their job. But I will have to pay for that too, because I can’t do it myself... such is life

I'll put it this way:

Mistakes will happen during construction! You just have to recognize them early enough and take action. However, you don't have to immediately threaten with a lawyer even if you no longer want to see the company/the craftsman on the construction site. They are all just human, and a factual conversation often works wonders.

It should also be said that you really need everything in black and white... if anyone ever said anything anywhere... it doesn't matter.

I also had problems with my construction regarding:

- Masonry
- Roof
- Interior doors
- Interior plaster
- Sanitary
- Electrical
- Window manufacturers
- Stair builders
- Drywall in general

As you can see, practically every trade is involved. Nevertheless, almost all defects were recognized early and corrected. Everything that could no longer be remedied was adjusted as well as possible, and a discount was granted or the warranty was extended by years.

We were told that over and over again. I am still waiting for the contractor to then explain afterwards which measures were taken to minimize the likelihood of errors occurring.

Why not avoid them from the start? Wouldn't that be more relaxing for everyone?

It may be true that something will always remain. Still: my subjective, non-authoritative impression of the construction -- the people somewhat don't care. No improvement in sight, no learning from mistakes. No measures to get better.
