I have (rented, but I still like) the version in the bathroom (but I misplaced my camera upload cable). In the kitchen, I don’t have the "problem" because the tile backsplash ends well before the door opening. I see 3) so rarely, I don’t even have a mental image of it myself, but I imagine it looks quite nice. For 2), the frame would be too monstrous for me and would cast too much "shadow" above the tiles. For 2), the tile surface would not be visually finished with a joint vertically. In my opinion, that would look like a renovation frame and therefore actually not suitable for a new building.

This is how it is with us:

The tiles were laid and the doors came 5 weeks later.
(The gap between the door and the tile still needs to be filled with silicone.)

That fits together very well, they both must have worked quite precisely. So probably exactly what the two craftsmen of the OP are afraid of, whether they can manage it that well too; and that's why each wants the other to have the blame.

Thank you very much so far for the many submissions. The consensus so far seems to be that [beigefliest] will be done. Photos of this variant (1) have also been provided. I would now also be very interested in photos of variants (2) and (3).

Actually, the width of the door or the frame should be fixed. And then it should be possible for any craftsman to transfer exactly this width to the door opening, plus 0.5 cm on the left and right of the frame (I think that's how it was done with us, I remember a mark next to the door opening)
