Don't believe it's possible because the threshold is too high

Hello,

We are currently in the planning phase for our detached house with a gable roof and have a dormer with 2 windows included in the offer for the upper floor. Unfortunately, according to the architect, this has to be removed because we have decided on a knee wall of 1.15m and the windows would be too small as a result. (With a 45° roof pitch)

Since we find the appearance of the house somewhat "bare" and the room there would otherwise have no windows, I am wondering what alternatives exist that do not massively impact the budget?

If you need any more information, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jens

I don't quite understand... of course it's also possible that I'm missing something. The knee wall is too high and therefore a dormer is not possible? Did the architect say why?

Yes, because the windows inside would become too small.

If I understood correctly, the roof slope moves up so far that the windows would have to be smaller in height.

We have another appointment next week. I would like to build an understanding of why it doesn't work and what affordable alternatives there would be.

Oh, I see... Then the next thing would be the [Zwerchhaus / Zwerchgiebel], right?

But belief is possible! Just with smaller windows! Then just like that - right?
