Does the large Ikea Pax with sliding doors fit in my room?

Hello everyone,

I’m giving a 50% status update!

I proceeded as follows:

I have 2 carcasses with 100 cm and 2 carcasses with 50 cm. The 100 cm ones in the middle and the 50 cm ones on each outside.
First, I screwed the 50 cm carcasses to the 100 cm carcass. This was the first problem. The clips which are placed on top of the carcass and later clipped into the upper running rail could not be installed because the ceiling height is too low.

For everyone who bought all the wardrobe parts at once!!! Attach these clips immediately during carcass assembly!!!!
For everyone who cannot do that and has the same situation as me, simply shorten the guide of the clips which have to be inserted through the carcass a little bit. I shortened mine by 3-5 mm to be able to attach them.

Then I mounted the rails both on top and bottom and installed the first glass door and simply slid it into the rail from the side.

Conclusion: The sliding door runs wonderfully in the rail and glides nicely without scraping against the ceiling, and that at my lowest point in the room (238.5 cm).

Unfortunately, I stopped the assembly here, it was late!

I will continue as follows:

1: Mount the 2nd door and also slide it onto the rail so that both doors hang on the 2 carcasses.
2: Mount the other 2 carcasses.
3: Mount rails and connectors.

and then the wardrobe should be finished. So at the latest, it continues at Easter.

Best regards, Bruno

Hello Bruno,

thank you very much for your interim report. We are really rooting for you here.

Unfortunately, I can't quite imagine what the "Klippse Problem" is. Could you maybe take a photo of it or tell me which point it is in the manual and at which step it should be done better? Then I can take a look and maybe do it correctly right away.

How much time have you spent on it so far? Sounds like you worked hard the entire weekend?

How much room for improvement do you have now? Was it just a matter of millimeters or is there still a centimeter or two of space?

Many greetings
Michael

Hello,

worked for about 3 hours, then other things had to be done! The cabinet has to wait a little longer now.

Here is the assembly picture regarding the clips:

It’s best to do this step during the corpus assembly before mounting the lid!
If that’s no longer possible, shorten the round part that goes through the lid!

I have about 1-1.5 cm of clearance upwards here.

At the latest, it will continue at Easter

Many thanks to Bruno for the tip with the clip.
Would probably have faced the same problem.

Do you think it is possible to first slide in the gliders and then screw the door onto them?
Can you still reach the screws then?
I have no space next to the wardrobe to slide the door in from the side, and with a wardrobe width of 2.50, I also can't switch to 4 small doors (which unfortunately don’t exist).

Hello Monster

I also think that will be difficult.

On the one hand, the door gets its stability from these sliders, and on the other hand, it will be hard to push the door from below into the sliders. Furthermore, you then have to screw the door with the sliders from inside the cabinet.

Not impossible but difficult!!!

But I don’t understand why you can’t slide it in from the side. You do have 2 rails for your cabinet too, right?
First install the first rail, then slide both doors in from the side, and then install the second rail.
Procedure like mine!

Or did I misunderstand something?

Regards Bruno

Thank you very much Bruno I hadn't even thought of that idea yet. I understood from your post that you attach the rail over the entire closet and then slide the doors in from the side (meaning you start sliding them in beside the closet)

If the closet with a width of 2.50m also has a 2-part rail (does anyone happen to know) then nothing stands in the way of a sliding door closet anymore, hooray!!!!

Thanks again very much
