Does the door open inward or outward? What is normal?

For this reason, choosing a flush door exclusively for a guest WC in this sense sounds to me like "noble goes the world to ruin."

What still puzzles me a bit is why no one has suggested the safest and also most space-saving solution: no door! The church is probably already in the next town over, I would say. Making it impractical in everyday life just to have advantages in a hypothetical emergency situation, well, I don’t know. You can probably always open the door a crack, even if there is something much bigger obstructing it. Then you just unhang the thing or, for all I care, cut off the hinges. Plumbing 101, I would say.

Now zizzi has apparently already had bad experiences. It is then not surprising that there is a higher need for security there. Whether others want to apply this to themselves is up to everyone to decide. Open inward! It works, looks better, and I do not share the security concerns.
