With the earth embankment between your properties, no reliable height estimation is possible. When you spread the earth, there probably won't be any edge at all. The height differences between you are so small that I simply claim you are worrying too much. And if you want to worry about it anyway, then at least with proven facts. You can get a good cross-line laser for 130€ and you can always use it. And bam, the height difference is known to the centimeter, and we don't have to argue about the distortion of the photo lens.
