Hello,

I will try to get straight to the point.
Can someone briefly and clearly explain the differences between, I would call them "prefabricated wooden houses" like Scanhaus Marlow Marlow, Danwood, Massahaus etc. and the wooden houses, for example from this 81fünf network, which advertises with traditional carpentry businesses from the region?

Advantages and disadvantages?

Thank you very much.

Only a comparison of the construction specifications helps.
A timber frame is not just a timber frame.
Which materials?
Installation level yes/no?
What is prefabricated in the factory?
Some deliver a timber frame with one side clad with MDF, the rest is completed on the construction site up to finished walls including windows, rough plaster, and sanitary installation.

Who are the 81fünf network? Scanhaus Marlow Marlow and Danwood probably focus on "price-sensitive" customers, Massa Haus builds "shell houses".

To my knowledge, the timber frame construction method mentioned there is the same as timber post construction, which you refer to as "prefabricated wooden houses." Somehow, as an architect, you have to present yourself. Being lumped together with the nationwide prefabricated houses would be, in my opinion, wrong. The combination of elements or wall structure is often similar, but not the same. I can imagine that the architect or this association also chooses the wood cladding, while Danwood and others tend to plaster or brick veneer.

To be honest, we have already been to such a company, but wanted to hear an independent opinion here before saying anything about it. What I have gathered from the visit to our known carpenter company is the difference:

Insulation completely without any kind of ETICS (plastic)
There is an installation level
Cellulose insulation aiming to achieve the KFW 55 standard
NO ventilation or door rebate ventilation.

So actually just as we wanted to build, only "just" made of wood instead of stone.

Now I'm not even concerned about the last detail. I just wanted to know for my understanding whether there is a huge difference between the mostly regional companies and the "big" ones that is only marketed differently? Or whether these are really two completely different things.
