Wherever the moisture goes without wallpaper.

How much experience do you have with the different wall coverings???

Wallpaper lets the moisture out – paste as well as construction moisture!

You will be dealing with moisture for 1 to 2 years – only heating and ventilating help!
You must not seal the walls with plastics or paints.

Whether you use wallpaper (fleece or woodchip) or paint the plaster directly is a matter of taste.
Some don’t like bare plaster walls, others don’t like the cracks that wallpaper would hide. Fleece is somewhat stretchable and easier to work with, which is why many choose it. Also, some want the modern look (smooth wall) without feeling like they are living in the "shell construction" textured by the plasterer.

In our experience (Wasserschaden in Einliegerwohnung), fleece is not very breathable if one can even speak of that with wallpaper. The moisture in the wall remains for a very, very long time. The paste molded because it became damp and the moisture was not transported away. It was similar with vinyl wallpapers. We had to cut the wallpaper half a meter high on the walls in all affected rooms so that the walls could dry properly. We cannot imagine wallpaper in the bathroom at all, even though we are wallpaper fans. Our bathrooms in the old house are completely tiled, so the question has not arisen for us until now.

Oops, I won’t say anything more about fleece now generally, people tend to lean in a certain direction if they have had negative experiences.

Then it seems obvious that painting is a good alternative to wallpaper... Our plaster guy advised us to paint our plaster only with dispersion until the building is dry (2 years) – we have gypsum plaster.

Modern bathrooms are no longer the classic wet rooms of the past. Fully tiled looks like at the butcher.

We will apply and paint a Hagalith adhesive plaster for wet rooms over the lime-cement plaster.
This tip comes from the professional.

Bathrooms are not permanent living spaces. Showering, brushing teeth, shaving... done.
