When was this price quoted? I'm just asking out of interest, as we are now at 1895 including VAT for the SD21, with the matching channel connection it's another 40 EUR more.

Three weeks ago! Take a look on eBay... there are reputable dealers with price offers ;)
However, it has only just been shipped due to delivery difficulties. It will arrive early next week.

Can someone with a water softening system try to describe how much better everything has improved in comparison to before, specifically regarding cleaning?

We are considering installing a system directly in our new build. One reason is, among others, the frequently mentioned advantage when cleaning. Although lime spots may still appear, it should be much easier to clean. Do cleaning cycles also become less frequent, so that one might say it is now enough to clean the faucet just once a week?

We want to set minimal black accents throughout the house (black door handles, black railings, light switches, etc.), so black fittings are possibly planned as well. We currently have a hardness of 12-14°, and black fittings are unthinkable for us here; we already struggle daily with lime on standard chrome. Is a reduction to about 6-8° expected to be a significant improvement here, so that perhaps black fittings would no longer require additional effort?

Furthermore, I have the question whether anyone here has extreme problems removing white spots? There is another forum where some owners of water softening systems complain about having white spots that can hardly be removed at all. However, these are said not to be lime but rather "water glass."

Does anyone here also know this problem?

No, I can't confirm that … I would always do softening, I don't have any stains anywhere …. What I especially find extremely great is the tiles in the shower ….

Fittings are quickly wiped dry after showering with a Prowin cloth: even after 2 years everything still looks like new

Do you have experience with how it would behave if you didn't dry it?

May I ask what tile color you have in the shower?

EDIT:
Additional example faucet. You use the tap and water drips from your hands onto the fixture, you don't clean it immediately. What does it look like here after 2-3 days?

We also have these white spots. But they come off well with citric acid or even ceramic cooktop cleaner. And you still have to clean, even with water softening. If I just dry the faucets every 2-3 days, there are no white spots. If I don't do that, I have to use a cleaner.
