Descaling system: useful or not?

Why shouldn't you be able to taste that? Every still water tastes different anyway, doesn't it?

Exactly. Every water tastes different. Therefore, with 2 glasses in a blind test, you also can't be sure which one has passed through a water softener. You might guess the "saltier" one and be wrong.

We are also planning to install a water softening system - also about 23° dH... However, with the idea of connecting only the hot water line. Primarily for equipment protection (hot water is to be produced with a BWWP). Since we also drink a lot of tap water, you always have the choice at every tap. When showering, approximately 80% softened water comes out of the showerhead, so that should hopefully be sufficient...

Dishwashers or washing machines are not connected to the hot water supply, are they?
