That's how I know it too, that's how it's done "classically" here. I know a painter who is currently building heavily; he smooths the walls like a baby's bottom. It's a pig's job and rather the exception.

Take a look, for example, at inkiostro bianco. There you will find many good reasons for wallpaper. After all, there is more than just textured wallpaper. However, if the walls are to remain pattern-free white, I agree with you - no wallpaper is needed. An individual taste that deviates from the spirit of the times develops through a conscious engagement with aesthetics and culture in relation to oneself. Independence in taste from "what's popular nowadays" gives confidence, joy of life, and allows one to be more content with one's own decisions for a longer time. There is no need to adapt every few years or even to "buy a room." Also a form of sustainability. As an alternative to painting, I would like to bring up clay plaster here. The varieties are countless, and those who are not really into the fashion of ultra-smooth surfaces (one's own taste can certainly coincide with the zeitgeist sometimes) can also manage with a moderate additional cost. For many people, the material contributes to a very high level of well-being. It regulates humidity, positively influences room acoustics, and absorbs odors. Others have conducted calculations regarding these aspects and attribute different qualities to the material. See for yourselves.

Simply scraping off the plaster was just way too messy for us. You can expect rough waves (with raking light)...

That's why we had EVERYTHING redone. Completely filled and sanded twice over the entire surface and painted twice.

At our place, only the walls with wall lights were fully skimmed. All others were only partially skimmed. Then fleece was applied on top and painted. It looks good.

I don't know anyone with Q4, you are probably right. I also don't know anyone who sands. It also depends a lot on the plasterers, if they do it well, Q2 is already streak-free in the light.

If you don't have such good plasterers, the walls are 1 to 2 cm crooked and wavy. Then raking light is obviously deadly. But then Q4 doesn't help either, because they will never manage that.

I live in one. It's a pity that you only quoted half of my paragraph: one paragraph, 2 sentences.... That belongs there. Thanks for the attention. Besides, it is part of the answer to the OP. She probably can’t make anything of her question regarding exterior facades and new housing developments.
