So: The Ug value is the U-value of the glass. A Ug of 0.6 is nothing extraordinary at first, but it does not allow any conclusions about the Uw value (of the entire window, w=window).

And it is precisely at the frame that the wheat is separated from the chaff, or in other words, where the biggest cost differences lie. Online retailers that appear to be cheap often use inferior frames. In addition, these offers do NOT include installation. This can be more expensive than the window itself, especially for large windows and difficult conditions. You simply don't carry a window measuring 3 x 2.4m or larger through the stairwell to the 3rd floor. That's when a crane truck comes into play and so on and so forth.
We quickly reach around 50k€, believe me.

3 x 3 meters in plastic? Is that possible?

We had about 2 x 2 meter big windows installed.... believe me, there were three of them carrying one pane of glass and they looked anything but relaxed. One pane of glass was also damaged.

As for the material itself, that should not be a problem, "plastic" windows do contain a steel frame. However, suppliers who can process such profile lengths above 2.4 m are rarer.

Most construction planners have never worked at a window manufacturer and therefore have no idea how much the things they plan weigh.

Uw of 0.6 is already very good. Passive house standard is in the range of 0.7. If that is okay, the windows probably won't be much more expensive than normal ones (I guess around 1,500-2,000 euros), but installation can have extra costs (crane, more workers, etc.). If Uw 0.6 is required, extras like krypton filling, etc. come into play.

Consider fall protection for floor-to-ceiling glazing (e.g., with glass).

However, the large windows also save some masonry costs; from 2 sqm, the openings can be deducted.

Fall protection for fixed glazing that cannot be opened? Or did I misunderstand you?

Thanks Daniel
