That is not correct!
You don't have to clear a street, only sidewalks.
If you own a corner property in an area where no separate sidewalks are designated, a "double burden" is avoided, even the simple one in front of the property.

All of this is regulated in the clearing and gritting obligations in the individual municipalities and communities, so it cannot be answered generally.
The costs for maintenance are also regulated there. Often, the "second side" is apportioned among all owners of the affected properties.

Whether the required privacy screen is viewed negatively or the expanse of the property positively depends on the individual location of the property: centrally located in the entrance area of the residential area, it can be perceived as disturbing to see approaching or departing cars around two corners; further back, this can be neglected if only a few neighbors pass the property.

... And then it also depends on the location of the house and the design of the edges of the property whether one could be disturbed...

Therefore, I would never generally reject or exclude a corner property if you have the opportunity to acquire one.

We also have a corner plot, there will be no sidewalk but a play street. According to the municipal ordinance, there is no clearing obligation for this, so we don’t have to clear anything (no one would clear a street anyway, where should the snow even go?!).

Since the streets will be completely rebuilt once the development area is largely finished, we have at least 30 years of peace from a new street. By then, we will certainly be living in a bungalow in some other new development area.

Corner plots allow more options for boundary construction towards the street. However, this also means higher costs for fences/hedges, etc., because no one wants to share with others. If you come to an agreement with the neighbors, the boundary construction can easily cost half as much, and each person trims their own side of the hedge... but the neighbor’s house will then be a few meters further away.

The street cleaning costs should actually be charged more per house than per meter of adjacent property according to regulations, since each neighbor brings about the same amount of dirt onto the street.

If no separate sidewalks are available, usually a strip about 1.5 m wide at the roadside must be cleared. Further details can be found in the municipal statute. Subtlety: A street within a town typically consists of carriageway and sidewalk. If the latter is missing, pedestrians simply walk on the carriageway and then a strip there must also be cleared. This clearing obligation is usually transferred to the adjoining property owners.

Fortunately, this concerns the sidewalk in the legal sense and not in the common sense

our statutes state as follows: we have no sidewalk, no walkable side strips, and no bike path or ditch. only the carriageway remains in the form of a play street. and it says there, no snow and ice removal. besides, it never snows here anyway

We also have a corner plot (of the entire construction area).
With us:
- we have no adjacent sidewalk
- no car traffic (since the street runs past the neighbor and ends there)
- no neighbors on 2 sides
-> What you should generally pay attention to:
- Many cars driving around the corner – cars accelerate / brake there (= noise protection, light incidence from headlights)
- Clearing obligation
- Development

Example: Although we have no cars, we have an extremely well-used foot / bike path next to the fence. Result: I always know what is going on in the village,... you can't get away from the chatter anymore
