In the children's room, I would save myself any expensive flooring. Just put something down that can be replaced quickly and is comfortable on the butt when the child sits and plays on it.
Friends have now had beautiful parquet laid in the living room. Little Susi with her ride-on car is happy. She scratched a road into it - 2 weeks after moving in - including a stop sign.
At least decent parquet can then be sanded and sealed once. Other coverings (vinyl, laminate, cork) have to be completely removed!
