No, induction can only transfer more energy into the water faster, that has nothing to do with efficiency yet. The ceramic hob continues to heat after being switched off.

The reheating is not always usable. For example, in my water example

@ all

Thank you all; I am relieved that I am not that clueless after all ;-)

By the way, I found the tests mentioned by (is that really the plural?). I will also stick with the ceramic cooktop in the new kitchen; buying new pots and giving up beloved habits – induction can’t save that much on electricity costs to justify the necessary adjustments.

Water is made most effectively in the kettle, this has been measured before (heat losses are lower, for example less master like pot is being heated). For most other things you cook, you can use them very well, I also cooked on ceramic hobs for a long time.

, but induction really offers a lot more comfort. If I were to get a new cooktop, I would definitely choose induction. Since then, I haven't had any boiling over of pasta water or other liquids, because when you realize, oh .. damn, you quickly turn it down and the bubbling stops immediately. Also, I can switch from frying to keeping warm instantly and don't have as much residual heat at the cooking zone, etc. And, of course, the cleaning.

At least for me, something boils over from time to time, especially because it goes so fast, Mm only looks away for a few seconds and the water already jumps out of the pot.
