Hello Kerstin,

The only argument I actually find convincing is => less cleaning; I have other hobbies.

I have been cooking with electricity for over 30 years and never understood or missed the gas hype. My mother still wrapped her pots in paper and put them under a blanket to keep warm; she also swears by gas. I, on the other hand, switch off at least 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time and at the same time have a warming plate if I need it. Others swear by skipping the gas flame onto the pan, I just use a long match/lighter. Of course, it’s annoying if something boils over, but that’s surely also irritating with induction. I always heat water in the kettle.

I also looked at the prices for these pots; from €200.00 upwards, it seems there’s everything; however, always for a set consisting of 5, sometimes 6 pots. If I now consider that there’s no pan, no pressure cooker, no asparagus pot, no proper braising pot etc., it quickly gets expensive. I could also throw my AMC pots/pans in the bin :( Plus the extra cost for induction ... and the constant buzzing, which we humans don’t hear but my monsters do.

My children are grown, my granddaughter is at an age where she knows what "hot" means. Enjoy your induction cooktop; I will soon finally enjoy the oven at arm height :D

Rhenish greetings

Hmm?

Almost all new pots are suitable for induction and there are actually all these "special pots" available.

Almost all old pots were suitable for us; the old iron and steel pots work best. Pure aluminum or other highly conductive metals, on the other hand, are bad.

That's okay ... I grew up with a gas stove (well, sort of), then had to endure ceramic hobs for a few years until the first "real" kitchen brought induction into the house. Of course, I bought my first (and so far only) pots back then, suitable for induction. Unfortunately, we only have a 60 cm hob; there wasn't enough space until now, and that's just how it is. There are worse things. Today, I would buy a 90 cm hob (now I have the space).

You must not always look at the price at the bottom right ;) For your special pots, you can still use an external electric cooktop, which one will eventually get anyway for mulled wine or the big stew for the garden party :D
