What I’m getting at is that "it’s not worth it in my opinion yet for saving money" is being presented.

Photovoltaic systems pay off after 11 to 12 years. Compensation is available for 20 to 21 years, guaranteed by law. Maintenance is usually non-existent. Lifespan >30 years. Oh, and you contribute to the survival of humanity. So, I don’t know what your problem is.

@hampshire how many cycles are you currently doing with your battery per year?

After 11 months and 1 week we have:

charged: 2691kWh
discharged: 2298kWh

Photovoltaic 28.35kWp, storage 10.2kWh

If you also consider that in winter snow lay on the modules for about 4 weeks and nothing came from the roof, then 200 cycles per year are anything but unrealistic. After deducting subsidies and VAT deduction, the storage cost us 4000€. In addition, the tax office recognized the storage as depreciable, so that a bit is saved there over the years as well.

With what do you empty your storage in the summer?

It never really gets empty. Until sunrise, in summer it is usually around 40%, unless there was bad weather the previous evening and cooking was still done from the storage or similar. And in summer on weekdays I have a hot water shutoff from 7 am to 3 pm, so with worse weather (due to the SmartGrid) it can happen that hot water is still produced at night.

Due to the ratio of photovoltaic to storage of almost 3:1 and the orientation E/W/W, the storage still regularly gets full in winter in good weather despite the heat pump. 17 full cycles in December, 25 in November.

Ah, and one contributes to the survival of humanity.

You don’t need photovoltaics on a single-family house roof for that.
