Sqm is not a relative size. They are what they are.
And the statement about loss of reality was not referring to the fact that people build over 200 sqm but to calling approximately 230 sqm of living space not large.
Assuming 3-4 occupants that would mean 50-70 sqm per person... that is definitely well above average.
And to contribute something to the topic, our architect calculates with 450€ per cubic meter for a good standard (about KfW 55 to slightly better, but we are building without KfW standard).
