I spoke with my husband again. We will forgo the L-bricks and compensate for the height difference in another way.

Since we will (also) plant the north side, we are still considering whether the concrete barriers of our neighbor on our property are disadvantageous or not. If we have no restrictions because of them, we will not bring it up. But since this concerns the topic of "Außengestaltung," which we have not thought much about yet, we do not know at the moment what we will do. In any case, we will say/ask nothing for now, only when the topic becomes relevant. We want to involve our neighbors in the outdoor design anyway, so that they do not feel overwhelmed.

Thanks to all of you for the many helpful information, tips, and recommendations. I often wouldn’t know what to do without you. (My husband groans more when I say to him, "But in the housebuilding forum they say ...". ;-) )

It's actually quite simple. First, think about what you want to do in the garden, the rest will then follow around the places of activity. I recommend at least 2 places to settle down—one with sun, one with shade. Engage a bit with square meter gardening—it is especially delicious to eat your own harvest. Raised beds are back-friendly. Compost can be created odorlessly using EM. Plant at least one tree and (as with the driveway) don't think in right angles and strict boundaries—that makes the garden more livable and less effortful.

I also had Mr. Grabowski as a visitor 2 years ago. After some time, I also succeeded in driving him off the property. Much to the delight of my neighbors, who were just on vacation.
