Conclusion IKEA METOD 3D Online Planner

actually, I was very excited about the METOD introduction because of the better use of storage space and the flexibility. Unfortunately, the 3D online planner is nowhere near as flexible as METOD is supposed to be. Or I am just too stupid to operate it. In any case, I wanted to try a few things that are theoretically possible. Wall cabinets with a combination of glass doors and regular doors, for example. Or doors that go across more than one cabinet. Even when you select a tall cabinet, dozens of door division options are listed, but not the one I have in mind. And I have not found a way to place an empty cabinet first and then add the doors, so to speak. If anyone knows how that works, I would appreciate a tip.

To my horror, I also found out that almost all fronts I considered have disappeared with the METOD introduction. For example, the category glass doors (which are now called Jutis) no longer exists in clear glass and also not in opaque white. (Only frosted glass and smoked glass). Black fronts are only available with a wood effect (yuck), but no longer in matte or high gloss. The red matte special front Flädie looks good, but is only available in a few door sizes (not for drawers). And I find the other two special fronts horrible anyway. In the end, I will probably take the cheapest white front HÄGGEBY and try to pimp it a bit myself with paint or foil. (Only for the upper cabinets, where the surface is not stressed that much).

So, that was my frustration thread. Just had to get it off my chest.

I think it is less likely to be your fault if the planner doesn’t work out so well. For some time now, some things on the website haven’t been working properly for me in Firefox, the availability display is not always correct, the Pax planner has or had errors, and there seem to be a lot of complaints about online orders as well. Nothing to be surprised about there.

I hadn’t looked at the fronts very closely on the foreign sites beforehand. I completely agree with you. JUTIS only in smoked glass and frosted glass is stupid – maybe RUBRIK white and clear glass didn’t sell well enough. Even worse, in my opinion, is that JUTIS is no longer available in 60 cm width. It doesn’t fit at all with the METOD concept to offer JUTIS only in 2 x 30 cm.

The special fronts were also only available in a few sizes for Faktum, even fewer than for METOD. The advantage now is that if you absolutely want this front on a drawer, you can drill the matching holes yourself, but then a 10 cm drawer in this front design is not possible.
I suspect something new will come with the catalog change. I saw a picture with a mint green front. I remember it roughly like that.
I have no idea whether those were Veddinge or FLÄDIE fronts. They were only visible on wall cabinets; the base cabinets had a different front.

I have also experienced that the kitchen planner does not run smoothly, or combinations that should actually be possible are not allowed.
Furthermore, not everything on the homepage has been switched to Metod yet; partly you still get user manuals or assembly instructions for Faktum.
That’s why I called the Ikea hotline last week.
The statement was that they are working on it urgently and everything should work in the next few days.
Well, now it has been over a week and it is still not any better....

So I had put everything together on-site without a planner. At Ikea, I then had to create everything again in the planner so they could generate shopping lists for me. But that went pretty fast because I had already written down everything.

But now comes the "scandal":

The "competent" employee then manually edited the list again because some things were already strange in the planner. I went shopping with the generated list and in the end, I had a few things twice, but many items (even complete cabinets) were simply "forgotten".

I had to revise everything at home and RENT a Sprinter AGAIN to buy all the missing things. That was really outrageous, but a week after the system was introduced, I certainly wasn’t the only one affected ...

And the next outrage from Metod ...

Cabinet 290.208.37 has a regular door as a drawer front according to the article list. Which I logically also bought for 50 euros.

In the instructions for the drawer, of course only assemblies for genuine drawer fronts are described. How to now screw on a completely normal door there without any pre-drilling is left to the customer, it may well be that it doesn't fit then and the expensive door is for the trash ...

In the item list, however, 202.699.31 is also listed, which is needed for that.
