We only had one power connection installed and switched to a cheap local provider, and chose a tariff without a new customer bonus/discount because we did not want to switch every year. In my opinion, this makes us cheaper than having two connections.

Unfortunately, the long-term contract did not quite work out. Our provider will increase the prices for the tariff and the basic fee starting in December, which will mean more than 30% additional costs for us. A contract change will probably be necessary, then I will be back under 22 cents for the consumption fees.

Can you even change the heat pump electricity provider? We were told back then that you are tied to the local provider. That was the decisive point for us to only have one meter.

We have also decided against a separate heat pump tariff and only have one meter in the house (I can easily read how much the heat pump consumes directly on the heat pump). However, we also change the electricity provider after one year if there are better offers. With the new customer bonus, we only paid 17.5 cents in the first year (ends 11/2015) (+ basic fee 225 € p.a.). For that, I do not need a separate heat pump tariff with an additional meter.

I just checked. Enso (to which we are supposedly bound) offers a heat pump tariff of 19.91 cents with a basic charge of €61.63. If I now compare it with our tariff, which we would choose in the future, I would save just under 2 cents. With a high estimate of 3000 kWh, this does not even cover the basic charge.

I can definitely say that my heat pump does not correctly measure the electricity consumption. It does differentiate between heating and hot water, but the total value is not correct (too low). I am also not tied to the supplier.

Good morning,

I'm glad that so many posts have already been written... :-)

We also have 2 meters, which makes sense to me.

Our consumption is estimated at 5,000 kWh with 4 people and 190 m².
The cost should be 0.20808 €/kWh and 3.07 € basic price per month.

I have also noticed that with other providers the kWh price is significantly lower, but the basic price/work price is significantly higher.

Now I am stuck between Stadtwerke Kassel and EON and have to recalculate everything here again...

Question, which provider have you switched to?!

Regards Martin

5000 kWh for heating and hot water or including household?

We used the two major comparison portals. There you can enter your electricity consumption and they calculate the cheapest tariff according to your wishes with and without bonus for the first year/green electricity, etc. The switch went smoothly. After one year, you then have more realistic values and can readjust whether providers with high basic fees and lower consumption prices or with low basic fees and high consumption prices are more worthwhile. For the first year, you should assume somewhat higher electricity costs due to dry heating anyway.
