I know you mean well.

When I imagine the official's face on the phone, how he allegedly proves his "innocence" with relish, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

These people have gotten exactly what they deserve. A job with lifetime protection against dismissal. However, also the most boring life on earth. Everything has two sides. ;-)

Not all officials are the same! However, the "white sheep" are rather the exception.

It's often not about "what" they say... but HOW they say it. As if it gives them a thrill :)

There is nothing to add to that.

And whether my life is boring, I do not judge by my job but by my family. My job is there to finance the rest.

I thought so...
This exact attitude is the reason for the described reaction.
Zero identification with what you do. Zero motivation. Zero drive to achieve something in the job. Zero love for the profession.
Then exactly this comes out... Snappy answers, zero willingness, frustration, indifference, etc...

I am obviously lucky that I don’t HAVE to go to work, but want to! The activity challenges me, brings me joy, has ups and downs. But it is the process that brings fun.
If I imagine sitting in an office every day just to “do” something only to finance my life outside of those 8 hours, then I would probably be just as miserable as most civil servants.

It’s really sad... Such a long life... So much time at work... And then this “just sitting through it” to finance that oh-so-exciting life outside of the job...

Bitter... And somehow sad...
I feel for you!

In our working world, luckily, there are plenty of options to find the right one. If you have achieved that for yourself, congratulations.

I have for myself too, by the way, you might find it boring (even if you have no idea what I do). It suits me perfectly. And frustration, equality, etc., I certainly do not show. There are these civil servants - absolutely for sure. But there are these people also in banks, in grocery stores, at the bakery. Exactly everywhere people work.

But despite satisfaction in my job, I am 100 percent rather at home with my family. Asked the other way around... Is your family perhaps boring? (Not to be taken too seriously :))

Now calm down, dear ones! Experience shows, there is a lid for every pot. That’s a reason to be happy! I’m amazed every day at the kind of nonsense my husband gladly deals with. Terrible! But wonderful that someone does it! It’s the same with the office. :)
