Ours is 3.97m x 7.08m. My husband and I set it up, it wasn't difficult.

Best regards

Good to know - my father also always says that you can manage it alone if necessary, but he always exaggerates
What about untreated wood? Can you achieve the same result by painting as with [Kesseldruckimprägniertem]?

You can usually build a carport yourself without an extra kit. Just look online or at the hardware store for the construction principle and then customize it individually.

You can get the material from any local timber dealer. Or just ask there if they can support you with the material selection.

My dad has already built 5 carports himself, and they still stand even after 15 years. And the wood is still great.

So we were just at the hardware store / building center and got some advice. The consultant showed us the constructive differences between the store brand and Scheerer. He is now calculating a Scheerer carport with aluminum roofing 4x9 (adjusted to 3.6m x 9) and one of the store brand with wooden roofing (3.6m x 9m as standard) for us (both including a storage room); he would not recommend the aluminum roofing of the store brand. Both are laminated timber.

A building permit is generally required for carports, ergo also structural engineering approval. If you can provide that individually, of course it works. However, when making such statements, one should keep in mind that there are plenty of "DIY experts" in Germany who read such statements as above and simply copy them.

Of course, you can do that as well – but for your information, you should add that obtaining a permit afterward is always more expensive than asking beforehand.

I never said that construction should take place without a building permit. You need one anyway. One should also trust themselves overall and apply accordingly if it is necessary.
