Cable connection or satellite system - telephone connection?

If you don’t pay for a "cable connection" and get 3Play, it could be that you have the internet and phone, but in my opinion you won’t be able to watch TV, neither digital nor HD.

So if I look at that on the Unitimedia homepage, I thought it says 3Play = internet, landline, and TV. I was under the impression that all costs are covered by that. In my opinion, that is the "cable connection". Am I wrong?

No, I don’t want to hear anything. I want to inform myself. The question for me is whether I should take a Unitymedia connection or not. I’m going with Telekom connection. Now the question is: TV via satellite and DSL via Telekom line or TV via cable and DSL via cable and no satellite.

The usage fee (3play) is not the connection fee (cable connection). The setup is really only worthwhile in apartment buildings where the connection itself costs 5€.

3play does not include the basic connection. That is added on top of the prices mentioned. If Telekom does not offer at least VDSL 100, preferably FTTH, I would refrain from it. Cable has higher potential when it comes to increasing bandwidths.

Cable is always a shared medium though

Copper as well, it's just a different topology. The coaxial cable is simply of higher quality than a copper twisted pair, which only achieves current speeds over very very short distances in the bundle. Sure, there's still something coming with VDSL2, but soon it's game over.
By the way, Telekom builds FTTH as GPON, which again is only shared ;-)

Otherwise, it's all just theory. If UM offers 400 MBit and Telekom only 20, the game is already over anyway.

OK, that's true. That really comes on top. It doesn't pay off. I'll check what kind of line Telekom has. Magenta S with 16 Mbit/s.
