They are the same tiles. I have contacted this one regional dealer and asked about a discount with the background of the internet price. That was then the price he could offer. Delivery would be included with unloading by crane.

For the floor, we want Marazzi Treverklife Honey and for the bathroom wall Marazzi Powder Graphite

Always a difficult topic... you must not look at [internetz] prices

You’re not allowed, but sometimes you’re surprised: Among other things, we also selected tiles from Marazzi, which had an MSRP of around 95 EUR or so. (They didn’t want to sell us the originally favored tiles from another manufacturer because these were only available from a wholesaler that the tiler did not cooperate with. "You never know what quality you’re getting and what happens if there are problems." It was a nationwide well-established building materials retailer ...) Anyway, we were practically anxious to get the offer for these tiles. In the end, the tiles were even cheaper than the original choice because the tiler “gave us a killer price.” This put him significantly below all available online retailers.

So it can go either way, but if there is no fairness on the other side, you can only give up completely – nowadays more than ever.

PS: Prepare yourself for additional costs of between 30 and 50 EUR just for laying the large formats. The plank formats, on the other hand, are not much more expensive to lay.

Difficult topic. We also had the problem that we couldn’t find anything we really liked at the tile dealer specified by the general contractor. But we also can’t do anything with the currently popular concrete look. And when it comes to tiles, I don’t want to compromise either, you don’t quickly change them. So we removed the trade after another tiler had committed to us. Unfortunately, he recently canceled. Now we are looking for a tiler. At the moment, not so easy, but I am optimistic. Although the issue of self-purchased tiles doesn’t actually seem to be the problem.

Why not?

You do that everywhere else too. It’s not about the last euro. But if I pay €43 online, €95 in-store, that’s over 100% markup. Then the fun ends. If the retailer now says, I can’t do €43, but €60 for this and that reason, that’s okay for me.

The retailer with the €95 clearly wrote to me, no discount, because my construction company is a cooperation partner.

We removed the tiles from the contract with the construction company. We didn’t like what was included in the price, and what was extra seemed unreasonable to me. I bought the tiles from the general importer, made sure to get full pallets, and hired the tiler separately. The tiles cost roughly one-third of what they do in a good specialty store, which also carried them under a fantasy name. You determine the quality level when ordering; they came in exactly as ordered in very good quality, so why not? There are hardly any master tilers left anyway, so you just have to make sure he knows what he’s doing. If he’s a solo practitioner, you can manage it by providing the materials yourself on site. We made a good deal and had good materials neatly laid in the house. We were building in the Stuttgart metropolitan area, where the craftsmen were and still are excellently booked. I had to coordinate the poor guy several times because things didn’t work out with the construction company; I also had to network him with other trades and change some sequences (tiles first, then the door carpenter). Changing the sequence works well if done early; I believe I even fixed that in the contract. The only disadvantage: we had a slight surplus of one type due to buying a whole pallet, but it was still worth it. Personally, I would avoid discontinued patterns—you never know. But that can be inquired about. Best regards Gabriele
