Actually, it is the case that you have to endure the misstep from the early 90s of installing slaughterhouse tiles nowadays

If the tile setter's main profession is butcher, that might possibly be true. Then it looks terrible.

If the tile setter knows his stuff,
- the joints are narrow and therefore the tiled surface is much more pleasing to the eye than in the slaughterhouse
- the tiles are mitered at the edges instead of having protective strips made of white plastic or metal
- floor and wall tiles are laid with continuous joints, i.e. no offset between floor and wall tile "pattern" that could disturb the eye.

In the tile trade, they will claim that this is all not possible. But it is.

Laying small tiles, e.g. 20x20 or 25x25, is also much cheaper than larger tiles.

So

in our entrance area including the stairs, living room and kitchen the same tiles are installed continuously.
These are from Marazzi (may I mention that, Admin?) in 30 x 120 and the model Treverk in the color "White".

Upstairs in the bathroom it will be rustic, there will also be Marazzi tiles in 30 x 120: model Treverkhome in the color "Larice".

Why these? Because we want wood-look tiles and after a year of searching we haven’t seen any other manufacturer that comes as convincingly close to the wood look as these...

In the guest bathroom it will be anthracite large-format tiles, in the utility room standard tiles in white

@aytex: Do you already have offers? How much does the sqm of the fancy Marazzi cost? They really look tempting!

So, we looked for the retailers who distribute Marazzi tiles in Germany and called 12 retailers (we worked our way up to Flensburg by phone) in northern Germany. Unfortunately, the prices were not cheap. The Treverk in White cost around €45/sqm and the Treverkhome in "Larice" about €52/sqm. But: everyone said that if the developer bought them and not us as private consumers, they would be available at significantly lower prices. So we went to the developer and negotiated with him to have the tiles installed instead of any tiles according to the building specification, which were allowed to cost a maximum of €30/sqm. He then called his building material suppliers and got prices. In the end, he included the tiles for us without extra charge or only €8/sqm more due to the oversize. It was negotiated in by us. But I think he got them for around €35-38/sqm. But for private buyers, I think they are well over €40/sqm.
