Hello dear people,
we heat our house with geothermal energy and are very happy with it. We built a chimney during construction - but did not install the fireplace. By now, we are also not so keen on having one. The house is evenly warm due to the relatively good insulation value, so there is hardly any desire to cozy up to a fireplace.
However, the news about power outages is making me uncertain. We could probably bridge a power outage of 1 or 2 days. But if the power goes out for longer in winter, we have no alternative heating option. Therefore, we are considering installing a small wood stove. Of course, the prices for that are sky-high and availability is partly a joke. It would also have to be connected. Do you think it still makes sense?
