There is no GOOD and no BAD!

It must be a healthy balance between cost and benefit for each individual, so that one feels comfortable with their expenses and possessions.

The choice becomes smaller and more expensive the more you focus on ecological and organic products.
We all want to stay healthy – no one knowingly brings pollutants into the house.
But sometimes you have to make compromises to still be able to afford life and building a house.
What use is building a house without unnecessary plastics if one meal a day contains additives that the body has to deal with?

A tip: avoid unnecessary plastic, like vinyl flooring ;)

But first, one should consistently avoid all plastic packaging with food. Certainly much more problematic, as it goes directly into the body... no yogurt in plastic cups (plasticizers and such...), no coated Tetra Paks, no plastic bottles, no plastic drinking cups, no plastic toys for children (even if sometimes considered harmless, it could just like the fear of EPS be classified as dangerous someday...), no shoes with plastic, no clothing with synthetic components, etc. ;)

However, I can fully understand if someone wants to build in an environmentally sustainable way. If you can afford and want to do it, you should definitely go for it. The advantage then, however, is not the super great indoor climate (totally irrelevant nowadays, since everything is airtight + controlled residential ventilation) and eternal health, but it satisfies the green conscience. With unlimited financial means, I would do it too.

That is not possible. We cannot in all consequence, live without restrictions. If you want unpackaged organic products, for example, you have to accept a longer and more time-consuming journey... with your own car... spend more money on organic products and fuel... You talk about consistency, I talk about compromises. Everyone has to decide for themselves!

The whole life consists of compromises. Everyone tends to sugarcoat or not sugarcoat things that they can implement well for themselves (in your case it's probably the insulation and not the yogurt ;)). Is it harder to buy milk or yogurt in glass bottles than to lay parquet instead of vinyl flooring? It's all a question of willingness. I don't want to evaluate any meaningfulness in either case, and that was not the intention of the previous post...

It is also completely legitimate to implement what is important to you and what you are or are not willing to do. Everyone should do what they want (as long as it is within the legal framework). I just don't like this dogmatic "EPS is evil," especially against the background that similar materials determine "half of life."

Really? We have organic fruit and organic vegetables in almost every store. What are you talking about? If there are unpackaged organic products, then what are packaged organic products?

Just because B is worse than A doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do A etc... Relativizing doesn’t solve problems... :)

That’s the same approach again; it feels bad but is scientifically/practically very low in pollutants. Wood is generally considered more problematic there. If it is oiled, I don’t know. But lacquered/sealed or glued parquet definitely has more pollutants than high-quality vinyl installed as a floating floor.
