Sporty. Doesn't just go for the cheapest. Every on-site construction costs money. Depending on the construction service description and wishes, a seemingly more expensive one or the small one around the corner can be cheaper.

Haydee, we will definitely do that and also check out local companies. If it doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world. But with the rental prices, we just want to consider it. And informing and exchanging information doesn't cost anything.

Hello Lilli86, 180,000 € for a bungalow with approx. 100 sqm without additional construction costs, notary fees, etc. can be sufficient. It strongly depends on the equipment built or materials used and which contractor or architect receives an order from you. We also planned a bungalow and received various offers, 1250 to 2400 €/sqm. Very important: list all costs house, additional construction costs, outdoor facilities, carport-garage, kitchen ... Pay attention to which services the BU performs during the expansion, if anything else needs to be done, e.g., painting work, flooring, satellite dish ... If everything is planned perfectly and fits, you leave 8000 to 10000 € as a buffer, it will be costs that you did not expect at all.

Yes, a flat roof is more expensive. Precipitation can either drain off quickly or must be resolutely kept out. The most cost-effective are gable roofs with trusses, around a 25° pitch. At Nordlys, I believe it's 35° (a hip roof looks slightly flatter than a gable), and it just "stores" the garden chairs there during the winter season. Then the development plan still has a say: people usually prefer to make compromises on the roof rather than pass up a nice plot. And "Bauhaus style" requires more than just a flat roof, otherwise it quickly looks like "Hornbach style"

Thank you, we will definitely do that.

I will definitely get in touch with you again beforehand to make sure nothing is forgotten when the time comes. I don’t personally know anyone who has built a house, and as you can probably tell, we have zero knowledge. In any case, I was able to gather some information.

We also don’t rule out an older house that could be nicely renovated, but the prices are quite steep at the moment, in my opinion. And that can turn into a bottomless pit.

11ant well, the Bauhaus style doesn’t have that many features. But I know what you mean. My husband calls it prison style, by the way. I find Hornbach nicer.
