So the wall should not be the problem. It doesn’t even stick out of the ground. The driveway is 1.80 meters deep. At the moment, next to the house there is earth up to a height of 1.80 m (measured from the bottom edge of the garage). So the earth next to the house will be excavated and then a wall will be built. The current fence belongs to the neighbor. Therefore, I told him that it’s best if the wall is also on his property, since it would essentially be his. He has no objections at all. We just need to apply for a building encumbrance registration because we already have a boundary structure on the other side of the property.
The wall will then only reach up to the neighbor’s lawn edge in height, and our driveway to the carport will then be 1.80 m lower. So I will only have to cover 1 meter from the top edge of the wall to the carport roof. I will probably inquire with a structural engineer about the loads to be calculated and what the flat steel should look like.
