Billy/Benno IKEA shelf series, are visual combinations possible?

hm, I’m just thinking, if you put a white board on the shelf, it doesn’t look that nice from the front anymore, does it? Because then the shelf basically has 2 "tops". Maybe you could just cut out the piece that’s missing at the back of the shelf from a white board and then attach it from underneath? If you know what I mean :confused:

I was at Ikea on short notice today and asked a consultant for help. He said that you shouldn't really combine the shelves at this height and that I could buy a kitchen countertop. I would just have to have it cut at the hardware store. Hmm, didn't find that answer very appealing. Then I went to the bargain corner and took a look there.

The side panels of a tall Billy shelf are 35cm deep, so it would stick out by 7cm.

I then bought glass doors (green glass with an aluminum frame) from a kitchen series for 3,- EUR each. They are each 80cm long and 29cm deep. Fits perfectly and also looks good from the side.

Problem thus solved, still thank you very much to you all

..after all, I still wanted to buy a Billy shelf for my mouse's toys, so I went to IKEA again today to buy the rest of the things.(except for 6 checkouts, all are self-checkout counters. Amazing!)
