We have now come up with many ideas for the layout of our bathroom.

Our ideas:
1. Dirty laundry can be placed in the cabinet next to the washing machines.
2. Walk-in barrier-free wheelchair accessible shower (not currently necessary)
3. 27 cm wide shelf next to the bathtub
4. Small partition wall between toilet and shower to install shelves on the shower side as storage space and the toilet paper holder for right-handers on the toilet side
5. The floor plan can no longer be changed
6. No windows on the north side, but one 1.50 m wide window to the west

What do you generally think of our bathroom idea?
Our concern is a little that the bathroom might be too dark with natural light.

First, I would plan to remove the washing machine from there. That destroys the wellness factor of a nice large bathroom. Then I would install a sauna there and free up the bathtub. Otherwise, I would consider the space too valuable.

Hello willo,
washing should be done upstairs so that you don't have to carry the laundry up and down all the time. For cost reasons, we did not want to have a separate room for the washing machine upstairs. We thought that the washing machine and dryer could be built into a sliding door cabinet.

Sauna people are neither my wife nor me. During the last sauna visit, my circulation completely failed. It's not for us.

Sauna is just an example. 18sqm for the usual objects, lined up along the wall, is simply unnecessarily large. There has to be more to get out of it than a large empty space in the middle of the room.

It would definitely be too big for me as well. I like to have everything within one or two steps: the cream for care, the brush and clips for styling, the towel for drying... which is often stored in other corners, ... then you want to get back to the mirror quickly, and you’re rarely alone. I prefer a smaller bathroom with zoned areas. The tub under the window feels unsettled, but the view from the toilet looks into emptiness. I find a view to the outside really pleasant. By the way, the toilet paper holder is one for left-handers ;) I also don’t like to have a bath disturbed by the noises of a washing machine. We wash very often after work (when else) and bathe during this time as well... I also don’t think that after washing and sorting everything is put back into the closet, especially not with children. So then you have laundry lying on the floor. Where is the laundry dried that can’t go in the dryer? Well then, now you have this dream bathroom in large for yourselves. Why are you planning a disabled-accessible shower there? I would probably separate off a part for washing laundry, which could later be removed again for such a shower. Otherwise, I don’t know either [emoji853]

I would definitely not put the storage behind the bathtub, but rather at the head and foot ends. Otherwise, it is difficult to clean (but I am also not very tall), either bending over or stepping in.
