The door should have standard dimensions. But there is barely 1 cm of space above the door. A regular wardrobe often doesn’t fit, certain fitness equipment doesn’t… Annoying. One room was supposed to become a hobby room/guest room... we don’t even heat the other one...

The argument will work for many things in construction, but for the ceiling height? I don’t think any judge in the world would rule that it’s something a layperson couldn’t know. Actually, it’s one of the few things that even a layperson needs to know. I mean, otherwise the next one comes along: I wanted my house painted green, but as a layperson, I couldn’t have known it would be that green.

So that’s a dead end.

Making a subsequent claim for reduction: that won’t work either, since as the client / principal you have the duty to report a defect immediately after it becomes apparent. Since the ceiling height has not changed over the past six months, it’s again difficult to argue why now and not earlier?... The construction company will then respond: if you have no idea yourself, then you should have hired an expert who would have monitored the ceiling heights during construction.

Fitness room, utility room, freezer room, basement room... You said it yourself: self-inflicted, because it wasn’t considered and signed. Didn’t notice that there’s also 1-2 cm... Minor deviation, let’s call it a tolerance of 0.5-1%... All legitimate. It’s always easy to try to blame others. But if we’re talking about blame, then look in the mirror yourselves. By the way, time is too precious to be upset about it. There are also cabinets with lower dimensions, ... but if you want to be upset, please. We planned a ribbon window in the bathroom. Never paid attention to how high the parapet is. Now we have a 60 cm high window with an 85 cm parapet. Well, nice bathroom by the way... Your basement is certainly very cozy

The question of guilt is clear. You will lose in court.

However, this is once again a certificate of poverty for the BU. Truly very bitter.

You pay tens of thousands of euros and don’t even get an extra hint regarding such a no-go. Basement ceiling 2 meters... Man man man. What’s the point of this nonsense?!

I always try to keep my mouth shut about such things. But the enormous number of "service failures" by the specialist companies just drives me crazy.
