I’m joining in here because this topic is currently also occupying me.

In our case, the house has already been plastered (base and top plaster) and painted. The base plaster was also painted in the process. Recently, our expert pointed out to me that it is mandatory, as part of the landscaping work, to seal the base plaster again up to 5 cm above the finished height (and of course below). Before the base plaster was applied, the house was professionally sealed all around. Without the renewed sealing, the base plaster would probably develop cracks over time.

I am currently wondering how to deal with this in the end. Of course, we can do it and extend the sealing up to 5 cm high. But what then? Is it paintable over again? I don’t imagine it looking very nice and honestly, I have never consciously seen it on other houses.

Honestly, I thought it was ugly and did it myself. When the house had to be painted again this summer, the painter also painted over the black part. Now it’s invisible :)

Best regards

Do you need something like that if you don’t have a basement? I have a monolithic Poroton masonry directly on the slab, and the slab is clad all around with XPS. Do you then have to definitely apply bitumen or something similar on the base coat again, or can you put the dimpled membrane directly on it and then have paving or splash protection?

I have now ordered the material from Alsecco. It will be delivered on Monday. I hope it will be warmer than 5° next week. I also plan to paint the visible area with waterproof paints.

I have one more question: how is the sealing handled in the overlapping area between two studded sheets (with fleece)? Do these 15 cm also need to be sealed?

As far as I know, the dimpled membrane only distributes the load of the piled stones. I don't exactly understand what you mean.

I wish you good weather for your project next week!
