I just had a discussion with an employee of the developer. At first, he wanted to make it clear to me that it is an element. When I asked why there is then a seal in between, he said that it is fine that way and is the current state of the art. Where the seal is too short, they simply put silicone in, then it fits and causes no more problems. When I asked if that is a final solution, he only replied that it is fine that way.

I now have three opinions about the terrace door: One from you experts in the forum, one from my cousin who is a civil engineer, and once we showed the photos to two employees of a window company. And from all sides we hear: This is not how it is done!

I don’t think I can get any further without a building surveyor, but I have some doubts about how much good that will do. We are here in Austria.

Under no circumstances should the windows be removed like this and recorded as a defect in the handover protocol!

That's how it is – although as a former window manufacturer I count as a "window company" and can't stand the word "expert." This method "fits" at best in the sense of "then externally visible further damages only occur after the warranty period has expired."

Yes.
Even a building expert can only point it out to you and say that it was executed poorly.
Ok, he might have a few phrases about how to express it better.

Nonetheless, it is up to you, the client, to report the defect.
Therefore:
Send a defect notification by registered mail with a deadline for replacement according to DIN or something similar.

I couldn't tell you the exact wording right now either. But before you pay, or after payment of the installment, submit the formal written defect notification.
You can save yourself the expert here, because he can't do more than point it out to you.

Expert should not be an insult. Thanks anyway again for your expertise.

Since it is a condominium, all defects are handled by the developer. My knowledge on the subject is limited to what I have researched in the past few days. And then I am not only arguing against the window fitter, but also against the construction manager and the project manager.

And they are certainly Internorm patio doors and according to Internorm's homepage, the installation was carried out by a "top-qualified partner" with "certified fitters". The fitter told me on the phone today (two appointments have already been missed) that these are connectable elements, the seal belongs there and you can add a cover above it to enhance the appearance. But otherwise everything is installed according to recognized rules of technology.

Then the installer must certainly have an explanation from which continent these a. R. D. T. are. Europe certainly not.
