Seriously, those are the basement prices at your place? - yes, if the affected windows b) are situated kind of at a light well and a) are installed just as professionally on the outside, the drip edge on the inside actually makes exactly the suspected sense.

A seal cannot logically be executed flawlessly where something like that doesn't belong. You cannot couple with seals!

I could imagine that a pillar was planned between the two patio doors; later it was realized that it is not structurally necessary there, the opening was "combined" and the elements pushed together directly instead of ordering a contiguous element.

Step 1 was okay, keeping one of the elements as well, but instead of the other one, this one should have been made narrower by one coupling profile and such a profile should have been ordered. Developer creativity, shamelessly done thousands of times - but in the end not correct for you.

I don’t know their profile system "by heart", but as far as I know, it is a reputable and not cheap brand, they should have coupling profiles.

This combination as well (well-known brand, then you can save on the installation crew) is unfortunately not a new invention; not even in Piefkeland. This is how developers "combine" appearance of quality and profit.

I have perceived Internorm so far as a manufacturer who actually builds entire windows themselves (and not only supplies profiles to window manufacturers - especially not to backyard raspberry guys) (? ? ?)

Are you sure this manufacturer is not just listed on the invoice? - otherwise, the botched miter joints don’t fit the picture for me.

The apartment is a normal ground floor and not a basement. The windows were installed at that height only so that it is not so easy to see into the apartment from outside.

The patio doors are installed like this in at least three other apartments on the ground floor. And they are Internorm windows and patio doors, the fittings are from Winkhaus. According to our company list, which we received at the key handover, under the item "Windows" it lists Internorm building components with address, email, and phone number.

Are you a WEG? Is it the same in Austria that windows belong to the common property? Either way, I would definitely team up with the neighbors if you all have the same problem.

I visited a neighbor today who has the same combination. He hasn't noticed any drafts, but he will keep an eye on it.

We will have the window company at our house tomorrow, and they want to inspect the defects and, if necessary, repair them. I will definitely ask whether and how both door elements were coupled and am curious about the answer. And if they want to fill the too-short seal with silicone or any other material, I will politely decline. I trust your (remote) judgment

However, one might say that you have turned a nice ground floor room into a basement room. I think that is what 11ant meant.

In the same room are also the terrace doors that cause us problems. So at least we have enough light there. Windows at this height are often seen in this area when there is a public walkway directly in front of the window.
