Seriously, those are the basement prices at your place? - yes, if the affected windows b) are situated kind of at a light well and a) are installed just as professionally on the outside, the drip edge on the inside actually makes exactly the suspected sense.
A seal cannot logically be executed flawlessly where something like that doesn't belong. You cannot couple with seals!
I could imagine that a pillar was planned between the two patio doors; later it was realized that it is not structurally necessary there, the opening was "combined" and the elements pushed together directly instead of ordering a contiguous element.
Step 1 was okay, keeping one of the elements as well, but instead of the other one, this one should have been made narrower by one coupling profile and such a profile should have been ordered. Developer creativity, shamelessly done thousands of times - but in the end not correct for you.
I don’t know their profile system "by heart", but as far as I know, it is a reputable and not cheap brand, they should have coupling profiles.
This combination as well (well-known brand, then you can save on the installation crew) is unfortunately not a new invention; not even in Piefkeland. This is how developers "combine" appearance of quality and profit.
I have perceived Internorm so far as a manufacturer who actually builds entire windows themselves (and not only supplies profiles to window manufacturers - especially not to backyard raspberry guys) (? ? ?)
Are you sure this manufacturer is not just listed on the invoice? - otherwise, the botched miter joints don’t fit the picture for me.

Die Fenster und Terrassentüren sind von Internorm, also kein Discounter.
