Hello everyone,

we are currently planning our new building and were informed that the combination of Bafa funding for heating with renewable energies and KfW 153 will deteriorate for the next six months: heating with renewable energies will then be an individual measure and only apply to old buildings, not to new buildings funded with the KfW funding program 153. From 01.07., the KfW loan and repayment subsidy will be increased accordingly, and the increased amount can be funded.

Since we are currently in the planning phase and hope to start building by mid-year, we were advised to submit the Bafa application in 2020 and then the KfW application the following year. Taking into account the requirements for the application, this is also the normal procedure, that the Bafa application must be submitted accordingly earlier.

We are already in contact with a heating engineer who recommends a heat pump system that is also eligible for funding.

BUT: we are not yet the owners of the property (notary appointment probably in January) and as far as I know, street names and house numbers have not yet been decided (this is required in the form).

Can I still apply for the Bafa funding this year? What do I need to consider?

Thank you in advance!

No problem at all. This is, for example, the case for everyone building with a developer. Possibly with Planstraße 1 or similar. To be sure, ask BAFA. We just had this in another thread. Maybe there will be a tip.

Hello everyone,

thank you for the feedback. We will still submit the application this year.

But now another question arises:

How binding are the details in the Bafa application and the associated offer regarding the type of heating system and the specific type, which must be selected. Initially, we tended towards an air heat pump, but after a longer conversation with the heating installer, we would now go for a ground source heat pump with deep drilling. We have an offer for such a system and the deep drilling. We have not yet submitted any application or similar for the deep drilling, we only know that our property is not in a water protection area.

Specifically, two questions:

[*]Could we - if the house is fully planned and - we find that the dimensioning does not fit or we want to choose a different manufacturer or the deep drilling becomes too expensive for us - switch to another system, especially even to a different type of heat pump system (air heat pump)? We understand that only the amount corresponding to the actual costs is subsidized and if the alternative is more expensive than the one stated in the application - not the full amount will be subsidized.
[*]In the application, the following must be agreed to: "no official approval is required for the measure to be carried out, or - if an official approval is required - it can be presented on request". Is this relevant for the deep drilling? Do I have to obtain approval for the deep drilling before submitting the application to Bafa? That would then be the district office for up to 100m and mining law for >100m? But we probably wouldn’t manage that this year anymore? Or do I not need all of that yet for the application?

Thank you very much in advance!
