Is there even an LW WP that is funded by the BAFA? I find the list confusing as well.

Yes, it already exists. At least theoretically. However, it is very difficult to achieve an annual performance factor of 4.5. For existing subsidy programs, an annual performance factor of 3.5 is sufficient. That is why BAFA states that air-to-water heat pumps are mainly subsidized in existing buildings.

Then they should replace "predominantly" with "only." We are currently planning our new building with an air-water heat pump and had the BAFA subsidy in mind. But as it looks, you can forget about that.

We are planning to install an air-water heat pump in our new building. We want to install the Buderus WPL8 AR. According to Bafa, it is eligible for funding. Our heating installer supported the application and carried out the annual performance factor calculation. We arrived at 4.57, and thus the heat pump is eligible for funding (at least according to the guidelines published on the internet). I have not yet received an approval, only an acknowledgment of receipt with the note that we can now place the order for the heating installation.
