Drill jig ... good tip. Apparently, there is a good one from Wolfcraft. Well, then for the next project. One more question: if you additionally fasten the post next to the hex bolt, which goes through the middle, with shorter screws in the drill holes on the outside of the screw-in sleeve, do you necessarily need washers for that? The screw heads rest against the metal of the post holder, so I would think it also works without.

Another problem (freely after Stephan Hentschel): how would you assess the stability of the connection between the joist hanger and the post? With the screw-in sleeves, the joist hanger is much shorter than with an H-anchor, see here:

I have done it so that I have inserted the 110mm screw in the middle and additionally screwed in two 6cm long screws in two holes at the top and bottom (so always 2 screws per side, staggered, one bottom left, one top right, and on the opposite side the other way around). Is that stable enough, or should diagonal support beams be placed against the posts?

In any case, the carport must be supported against falling over in all directions by slanted beams in the construction. These are the small slanted beams in the corners under the roof. The beam shoes are to be considered as simple supports; they only take vertical loads.

Yes, the diagonal beams at the top are present in the carport. But the beam shoe of such an H-beam with 2 holes one above the other is, I think, still a bit more stable than the 5 holes on the screw-in sleeve... Maybe additionally screw diagonal supports to the posts at the bottom?

In the carport kit, there were no braces included at all. So I will make them myself now. This raises the question of the position. Can the braces be attached either at position A or B, or does it have to be B? (see attachment)
