How would you attach the posts in the U-profiles? A screw with a nut and washer or simply larger wood screws? The profiles only have one hole in the middle and four around it:

I have now read that the posts should not be placed on the bottom of the U-profile, but rather mounted "floating" due to wood protection. But then the entire weight rests only on the one screw located in the central drill hole. Is that really sufficient to safely carry the weight permanently? If I use the drill holes at the edge, that would be too unsafe for me due to wood splitting, since I would then have to drill the post at the very edge.

1. yes 2. yes 3. yes 4. yes Slightly align the screws inward and screw them in. A hammer blow on the screw tip prevents the wood from splitting.

Thank you for the response. If I use only 1 screw per post, I don’t think there will be any wood splitting (the hole is pre-drilled anyway). But 1 screw seems rather meager to me; with the H-beams, there are at least 2 per post...

how do you then align the height of the posts when they are floating? And how much space should be left between the posts and the bearing surface of the BodenDübel?

If I use a 10mm drill bit and drill the hole, will an M10 screw fit in there? And I don't quite understand the hammer strike part, why is that supposed to prevent the wood from splitting? These are screws without a tip:
