Are roller shutters (where) dispensable?

So either blinds everywhere or not at all... anything else is just strange. And 2000€ is not exactly an amount that should throw you off when building a house. Later on, you can only retrofit something like that with difficulty or at a high cost. And with the right blinds, you also have burglary protection. Only those who want to get in will get in... total protection is simply priceless. The best burglary protection is lots of toys in the garden and a scratched-up small car... then the burglars know... oh, he has kids, so there isn't much to steal.

Why is that weird? As long as you don't ruin the facade with a crooked look but only symmetrically omit roller shutters on the windows where you don't need them, like here for example guest cloakroom north or ground floor utility room and kitchen downstairs, it doesn't have to look strange, right?

One would think... and appearance-wise we could certainly achieve this burglary protection with our gang... but our slate house once in GB was still broken into

Visually, the straps and retrofitted winders don't bother me, they're very discreet. Well, I think we'll see how much money is left after the estimate of the next offer and then decide, and if in doubt take more roller shutters and no or less electronics.

I wouldn't have thought over 300 euros for a small pleated blind either, holy cow!

Where you can also save money with pleated blinds. We had some custom-made from an online shop. We are very satisfied with the pleated blinds and the price was significantly cheaper than anything local!

Pleated blind window tape, rough construction dimension 50 x 180, needs 2 pleated blinds
we wanted ones that look like blinds, so they let you see through and can only be adjusted at an angle.

One more different perspective: Since roller shutters are only closed at night, they act as additional insulation due to the extra air cushion, especially during the period of the highest temperature difference. According to a study, this can result in up to 12% savings on heating costs. And to avoid the hassle of raising and lowering them, I would choose electric ones... (with my 18 pieces, that would also be extremely annoying)

Yep, I thought so too... always running up and down 2 flights of stairs morning and evening is annoying... another positive side effect: in the morning the windows are not fogged up
