Are roller shutters (where) dispensable?

If you are looking for savings potential, I would rather choose manual than none at all. We enjoy the view from each window every morning when we raise the manual roller shutters. However, I must also say that a) we do not stand in the dark because of a skylight, and b) we do not have to look after children, so there is time to walk through the open living area day after day. For special window sizes, be aware that custom-made pleated blinds also have their price (our small kitchen window costs 350 Euros for a pleated blind).

Well, I would also at least take the manual ones because retrofitting always looks stupid and is expensive.

Or at least do without the electric drive? The latter can be retrofitted much more cheaply later with one of those electronic belt winder things, right?

If you are satisfied with these optical beauties in a new building, then I would prefer manual. Or have electrical cables laid right away. Then you can later retrofit proper roller shutter motors...
