Of course, you could have mixed it, although the dark boards would then stand out individually. We currently have second choice boards laid out over a large area, and the professional just started laying them down, even though I gave him a plan of the furnishing and repeatedly told him to place "less attractive" boards, for example under the kitchen furniture, pantry, under the bed, etc. Despite being second choice, the quality is great and yet he has already laid in the third board with a small flaw. Under the bed, however, everything is fine. The same in the kitchen and living room, where there are two reddish boards right in the middle of the room, but the pantry is excellent and also under the sofas. I think not even beating would have helped there. He was really nice but didn’t understand what I meant. I can also see his pronounced clumsiness in the corner solutions of the stairs... I’d say even this looks away, so I would worry less with you, even though it could have been better. Depending on the oil or color pigments in it, you might not see anything later, it’s probably similar with the first flaw you still mourn... :D
