Yes, I would have preferred to do it myself too, but with a developer and apartments, it is always difficult.

That doesn’t look shitty. It just doesn’t look quite optimal. Still, they should have been more careful when laying the floor.

I agree with others here in the thread. I see no reason for a complaint. Just don't let any UV light reach your floorboards because you'll be really annoyed by how it looks afterward if you're already bothered by the few darker boards.

That way you also have part of your retirement security covered.......perfect. You have raised an extremely undemanding child and have money to waste senselessly in old age :D

That's how it is, ultimately a house is a utility object. I remember my first wooden floor laid by my uncle. When he stood up after the last plank, he leaned on the hammer and bam.....the first deep dent. o_O....I could have cried.
After that it was the kids, later the dog and in between of course me as well. Eventually there were dents, grooves, etc. in it but it seemed like that had to be. For that reason I also prefer lively wood because it tends to forgive such dents. The floor was still there after 30 years and is probably still there after the sale.

Well, maybe in a new building with rectangular rooms. Laying the floor (without gluing!) in our attic conversion condo discouraged me so much that I probably won't feel like doing it in the house. I believe there is no straight wall in our apartment, plus many niches and projections. Baseboards were also hell because of unevenness :eek::eek:

that's no big deal. You get yourself a miter and chop saw, then you're set :). You'll need the saw again and again later, it's part of a homeowner's basic equipment.
