However, this assumes that your wife can return to work 2 years after the birth

The flat rate at our savings bank was by the way 700 per adult, 350 per child and 200 per car.
With one car, you should therefore have 1950 euros left after deducting the house payment with 2 adults and one child.

I find the income way too low for house financing and children! Children get older and then need not only diapers. Just a school backpack set nowadays easily costs €250. We pay a good €300 every year again for school books and materials. Class trips, invitations to children's birthday parties (for us about €50/month!), sports equipment (and new for every clothing size!), bicycles, roller skates, music lessons, etc. etc. In short: as long as the income cannot be increased, I wouldn’t build at your place at all.
