I once experienced ceiling cooling in a house without (!!!) roller shutters. It was a blazing summer day over 30 degrees and the days before had been just as hot. The ceiling cooling made the house absolutely cold, not just pleasantly borderline but truly refreshing. That really impressed me back then. The other houses with shading, controlled residential ventilation, etc., did not achieve anything remotely similar. In all the other houses, you had to sweat. In contrast, in the house with ceiling cooling, there was not even any shading. Of course, it costs money: first the installation, secondly the operation, but for me, it is definitely the 100% non-plus-ultra solution for those who want to have the best. Compared to air cooling, there are no strong drafts, no bacteria, etc. – it is cool inside, otherwise you don't notice anything. Definitely the best solution. For those who want to learn more: Ziegel Klima Decke.

So I had worked for almost five years in a building with holiday apartments and can report the exact opposite. Extremely hot, only with all-day full shading was maybe a cooling noticeable... which might also have been due to the procurement. Also, no janitor had reported the performance described by grym.

There may also be other/worse systems? Just to be clear, this climate ceiling is a water-based system and works exactly opposite to underfloor heating. The climate ceiling, ideally installed on both floors, cools down the entire building. Not an oven with cold air, but a pleasantly tempered whole building. And nothing can heat up from above either, the top floor ceiling (I am now assuming 2 full floors) is already the cooling.

Sounds like a dripstone cave

How do you come to that conclusion? The cooling probably works similarly to in a cellar or in old Gründerzeit buildings with extremely thick solid walls. Because everything around it stays cool, it also stays cool inside. If you have problems with moisture, then someone probably botched it elsewhere.

Anyway, OP asked for the best way, and a properly done ceiling cooling is the best method I know. Much more sensible than such a blower. That’s how the Americans do it in their wooden cabins – heating and cooling through the air. Heating through the floor or the walls and cooling through the ceiling or also the walls is technically the much better solution and can also deliver more cooling capacity than an air blower. Incidentally, you avoid drafts, bacterial growth in stagnant air conditioning units, and you no longer hear or see anything.

Edit: Did you mean dripstone cave because of water-bearing? Is your underfloor heating dripping? Oh dear... If you assume everything is botched, then of course you shouldn’t build a house. The system will be roughly the counterpart to underfloor heating, just on the ceiling. And with that, you can of course achieve significantly higher cooling capacity, which is why nowadays PCs are increasingly equipped with water cooling when high cooling performance and particularly low noise levels are desired.

If it is so great..why does nobody install something like that? At least I have never seen it. Especially in the commercial sector, there are only regular air conditioning systems..
