I bought a kitchen from Ikea last week. Part of it was the extractor hood LAGAN BF 275. Since there is no exhaust duct in my kitchen, it is supposed to operate in recirculation mode, for which a charcoal filter (Item No.: 101.745.56) is required, which was not in stock at the store. When I wanted to check if it was available by now, I noticed that such a filter is not available in any of the Berlin stores, even worse – there is apparently no indication when it will be available again: "This item is currently not available in your store. The expected delivery date is unknown. This item is also available online. Just add the product to your cart." When ordering online, shipping costs of €86.00 are automatically charged! It is noticeable that this filter is only available in very few Ikea stores anymore. Are they simply discontinuing accessories for products currently in the range? If yes – can something alternative be bought somewhere? Otherwise, I will probably have to throw the extractor hood away before I could even use it.

Maybe there are "only" supplier problems. I'll have a look around!

Hi,

the range hoods as well as the charcoal filters are being discontinued in the long term. Only rather small deliveries are still coming into the stores; the goods are more likely going to the central warehouse to cover, among other things, online orders. I unfortunately can’t tell you why such a high shipping price is shown to you; I suspect a system error. Probably only the Ikea hotline can help you with that.

You can still install your hood despite everything. There will be the possibility to reorder the charcoal filters via a final warehouse in Sweden. As far as I know, the goods have not yet arrived there. Otherwise, you can also get the charcoal filters directly from the manufacturer. Ikea works only with two: Electrolux and Whirlpool, both well-known brands. Your hood has a number on it that, based on the customer service slip which you hopefully received when you bought it, tells you which manufacturer it is in your case. I think it’s Whirlpool, but I couldn’t guarantee it at the moment. Then call the heat pump hotline on the customer service slip, give them the aforementioned number, and they will tell you the price of the charcoal filter.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I will take a look at it; I have not opened the package yet, so I do not know if it contains a customer service slip.

I was at Ikea yesterday and asked about the filter. They told me that the assortment is apparently being restructured and therefore storage capacities will be reduced (???). When I asked when this part might be available again, they couldn’t give me an answer either, but I got a number for Whirlpool customer service and the note that the filter can be obtained from there, but at a significantly higher price. According to the web, including shipping costs, it’s just under €50.00... So I wrote an inquiry to Ikea customer service and asked whether the item is available online and why freight shipping is automatically selected. Here is the answer:

Good day,

thank you for your message.

You can check the availability of individual IKEA items directly on our website. Please go directly to IKEA.de and enter the desired item in the search bar at the top.

This way you will quickly and easily find out whether your desired item is available in your IKEA store.

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Your IKEA Service Center

I feel incredibly taken for a ride... I’m now trying to buy a universal filter somewhere. I’ve supposedly found identical ones from other suppliers, but somehow the measurements aren’t quite right. The universal one apparently comes with various adapters, so maybe I’ll only experience few unpleasant surprises. Still, I’m no longer pleased with Ikea. This is outrageous. I’m considering replying to this email with a complaint, but it looks like no one reads it anyway, the answer came too quickly and consists too much of stock phrases.
